Do you need a Transmitter/Receiver with APM 2.6?

Hello,

I am still fairly new to the world of UAV's but I am looking to build my first one pretty soon and just have a question that I can't seem to find a definitive answer too.

The APM 2.6 system is what really got me interested in finally building a UAV and I was wondering since it is a fully autonomous system is there a need to using a Transmitter/Reciever? And if so is a 5/6 channel one needed? I have some older ones but I don't think they have that many channels.

Thanks,

Josh

  • Yes you definitely need one. There is a whole lot of tuning you need to do before flicking the "auto" switch and most people like to take off and land manually in between running missions. Plenty of cheap 6 channel radios on hobby king these days.
