Easy Star ESC and Motor recommendations

Hi guys,

I've finally found time to solder together my ArduPilot and realised I don't have a ESC or motor for my MultiPlex Easy Star. What would you recommend for a brush-less setup?

Also how can I add to the wiki? After putting together my ArduPilot, I'd like to clarify some points that would help others when putting theirs together.

    Hi Richard,

I use one of these in my EZ with a 25A ESC and a 3s lipo. It is a very fast set-up so if you go with that motor and battery combo please use the power with some respect, to give you an idea of the thrust it will deliver, when you open the throttle full from low air speeds it will start to drive the plane down ward, so you have to give some up at the same time. Vertical climbs are just about doable. Flight times are about 20 Min's plus with half throttle, which is more than enough to keep the EZ in the sky! My EZ is about 900 grams with all the kit fitted, and there is a great deal of power in the bank if needed!

The wiki edits need authority to do, contact Chris Anderson with your ideas.

    Martin.

  • Multiplex do a very nice brushless motor kit pack which I've been flying with for some time. It's not cheap, but I was having a lot of problems getting a suitable brushless inrunner in stock at my local suppliers.

I was worried that the ESC seemed to be a little low on the rated current side but have had no problems at all (probably about 30 hours in the air now).

One thing I couldn't get to work was the motor reverse feature, I trid to programme it but it wouldn't work so I had to swap two of the three wires going to the motor around. This would have been a *lot* easier had I not installed the thing first :)

    Good luck!
