I recently purchased and assembled 3DR ArduCopter Hexa-B Frame + Motors + Full Flight Electronics Kit with 6 880kv motors with 11x47 props
First 2 flights in the field, had the following issue:
At maximum throttle, copter gets to about 6ft off the ground, hovers and then starts to fall back towards the ground, at about 1 foot from the ground it 'pushes' off the ground climbs to about 6ft and slowly falls back down
obviously it just barely has enough power to stay afloat
ESCs are calibrated, motors spin up together, and the copter handles perfectly fine in all other respects
battery is a TRAXXAS 5000mah 3 cell 11.1v 25C (suspecting this is the issue?)
anyway, I'm pretty new at this, so any advice is appreciated!
Happy to provide any additional info and a video if I get a chance to take it out while its light out.

Have you gone through the radio calibration?
I am wracking my brain for my solution to exactly the same problem a few months ago but I do not remember what the problem turned out to be, except that I did something stupid.
By the way, I have exactly the same hex.
