IMU For Recording x, y, z, roll, pitch, & yaw

I have need of a system that can record the x, y, z, roll, pitch, and yaw of a Canon 5d Mark II camera.  We fly the camera in both piloted and drone platforms.  I have been looking at the ArduIMU+ V3 but am not sure what is needed to collect and save data from it, how a gps can be attached, and if a system could be used to trigger the camera.  My plan is to place the ArduIMU+ V3 on the back of the camera to measure roll, pitch, and yaw then have it connected to a gps and data storage system.  It would be ideal to someway link this data to the camera trigger so that in processing, each image will have the camera location and its attitude.

Thanks for any help,

  • ArduimuV3+GPS

This is getting roll, pitch, yaw & GPS and sending via serial data thru Xbee to computer.

  • Can I use APM 2.5 without a radio?  Is it able to record flight data (for how long)?  I am thinking that I could mount this to the back of the camera, power it up and have it record the camera's path.  After the flight download the flight.  Does anyone know if this will work?  Is there a way to mount a SD card to record longer flights (it seems that earlier versions had a micro SD card on them)?
