jDrones Kit, Magnetometer: where does it go?

Hi,

Apologies if this is a silly question, but I'm a bit confused how to best connect the magnetometer to the jDrones kit (http://store.jdrones.com/product_p/ackit1.htm) that I just 2 hours ago started to assemble.

1. The wiki recommends soldering the magnetometer directly on the IMU.  But: the jDrones kit does not come with the required connector pins. So I take this as a hint that the designer of this kit recommends *against* soldering the magnetometer to the IMU, correct?

2. The kit does come with two GPS cables, so I could use one of them for the magnetometer. The description says it should come with two 10cm cables, but in fact mine has a short one (5cm?) and long one (10cm?).
So should I use the long one for GPS (so I can mount it on the dome) and cut the short one apart to use it for the magnetometer?

3. If I do not solder the magnetometer to the IMU, where do I best put it? I assume it would have to be firmly fixed somewhere so that it cannot change orientation compared to the IMU during flight. Should I just assemble the kit and then (hot-?) glue it somewhere? Where?

Thanks for any recommendation, I'm a complete newbie at this and would like to first get the thing flying at all using recommended settings, before I start experimenting myself :)

Thanks,
Ben

For now, use the short cable for the mag and the long cable for the GPS. Just make sure that when you attach the mag to your frame, it's positioned "components down, pins forward".

If you later want to solder the mag to the IMU, that's easy to do.
