No Power to GPS

Hello,

I have posted this before but thought I would try again.

I have connected my GPS (3DR GPS uBlox LEA-6) to my APM 2.5 and I get no LED light on the GPS unit for power or fix.

I have connected the APM through two sources, USB to latop and to fullly charged battery.  Any Ideas?

  • Hi Jason

    Did you get any further with your problem?  Did you get any answers from 3DRobotics?

    I seem to have the same problems with the GPS although I can't get the accelerometers or compass declination to configure no matter what I do.  I'm also getting wild height variations showing when it's stationary.  From -2000ft to +3000ft when it's sitting on my desk.

    Cheers

  • TCIII, I get an error when trying to pull the files - complaints about the XML file...

    I found the zip file on the 3DR page HERE.

    Handy thing Eagle is.

  • Thomas,

    Thanks for the insight but I assume even if I narrow down the defect I would still need a replacement GPS?

    @Jason,

    Yes you are correct. If the GPS is receiving +5vdc from the APM, the red light (LED) should be on. Also, once a 3D lock is achieved, the blue light will begin to blink at a 1 Hz rate. Sounds like you might want to request an RMA from 3DR to get the GPS looked at. If you are good at troubleshooting, you might want to use the GPS schematic/board layout to see if there is 3.3vdc on pin 6 of the LEA-6 chip. The voltage regulator U1 regulates the 5vdc input to the board to 3.3vdc for use by the other components. The GPS Eagle files can be found on the 3DR GPS web page.

    Regards,
