Regarding APM 2.6 confusion

Hello everyone, hope you doing absolutely well.Recently I got a APM 2.6 with GPS and telemetry from a Indian Distributor alliance with Aruino, for my fixed wing drone model. But I wonder by receiving an APM 2.6 by the name called Arducopter.I am attaching the image here. Please tell me or suggest me whether this is suitable for my fixed wing plane???To my best knowledge it might suitable for quad copter, since I have never seen an autopilot with the name of Arducopter. In 3D robotics it is written as APM 2.6 and work for all............please

  • Ok, you have some research to do.

Firstly, the board does whatever firmware you load into it, can be 'plane, multirotor, car, boat, etc.

I'm inclined to think it is a copy of the original 3DR APM 2.5.

Then it should have an on board magnetometer.

That is easy to check, connect with Mission Planner, check if the heading changes if you rotate the APM.

Or post a picture of the top of the electronics board.......

If not, it is a 2.6 clone, and you need to also have a GPS with built in magnetometer, for it to work.

Mostly, the clones fly quite well.

When the US government had a brainfart, and prohibited export of of 3DR stuff, I was forced to go the clone route too.

    Worked for me.......

Its a Chinese clone, just make sure you have aircraft fw on it.
