SimonK or BLHeli at APM 2.5 FC

Hello 

I was read many guides to Know what is the appropriate firmware to my Flight controller APM 2.5 (Ardu pilot mega 2.5 ) but the problems with me I have Confusion how can I decide which good firmware to my FC and please let me to ask you some quastions:

 What is the appropriate firmware to my FC APM 2.5 in your opinion ? and why I need to change the ESC when it was programming before?

    i use the latest multirotor 14.2 firmware for my Afro ESC 30a

    i prefer much BLHeli....has work great for me flawless for 6 months at least....
