SuperStar EP Power System questions

Hello All,I have begun a Ardupilot project and am using a SuperStar EP to get started. Eventually I will conver it to brushless but for the time being will use the stock brushed motor and speed controller.I have lots of 3 cell 2200 mAh LiPo batteries around. Will the stock speed control handle the higher voltage of a 3 cell LiPo?Thanks,Doug

OK, I know the plane is getting old and not as popular, but I'll still post and let everyone know that I did fly the SuperStar EP with the stock brushed motor and speed control using a 3 cell LiPo today. The motor got a bit warm as I did not entirely baby it but several times throttled up in excess of the stock 8.4 volt NiCad voltage. However I had no problems. Probably the life span is shortened, but as I plan to upgrade to a brushless motor at some point I don't care. I didn't even break in the brushes....

Also FYI I used 100 mAh per minute with a 2200 mAh pack on board. Switching from the stock battery to a 3s 2200 mAh LiPo saves over 200 grams! If you paralleled two of the packs you would be back at the stock weight and have a flight time in excess of 30 minutes. I can't wait to see the performance with a good brushless set-up.
