I have been trying to get 2.9 to build so I can beta test and I cannot get it to compile. I have followed the Wiki and other instructions, but when I try to build I get a huge list of errors - most of which appear to be around variable declarations. It looks to me like it maybe it is not finding the libraries. This is the directory structure I have:

I run Arduino (as Administrator, just in case), set the ardupilot-mega-9235ce36ede9 folder as the sketchbook folder and open Arducopter/ArduCopter.pde from there. This opens all the various files into tabs in the editor.

 

If I click the Verify button, I get several hundred errors (see below) - this feels like I am missing some simple step - but I am darned if I know what it might be. HELP!

Another Arduino lesson learned :-)

Still getting errors after,

Copied the libraries folder from 2.9\libraries to the ardunio 1.03 APM version.

Dunno if it matters but I copied the folder as opposed to just the files within it?

Checked the sketch folder and changed it from 2.9rc5 (which is what I was playing with origianlly) to 2.9

Restarted the IDE,

Loaded the arducopter.pde and after sketch----->compile, there were still many errors only this time they referred to the 2.9 folder instead of the 2.9rc5

See earlier in this thread: a lot of people are not getting successful builds using the ArduPilot build of Arduino. I had the same problem.

Using the 1.0.3 standard build from the Arduino site worked for me.

Hi David,

After much experimentation I've discovered that I can use the 1.0.3 standard build from the Arduino site on my work desktop and on my laptop and they both compile sucessfully but I cannot get my desktop to work properly without errors.

I had a similar issue with the APM, it would work ok on the lappy but not on the desktop.

Luckily the lappy is also the GCS so it'll do fine!

I've found what is causing the problem. Screen size!......

Put a complete arducopter code and compiler installation on a network drive Had it setup so the libraries were found, went to compile, and had the problems being outlined here.

Screamed multiple times, and tried lots of variations. Still problems.

Could compile sample files, add libraries to these, and they worked, but the full code wouldn't.

Then happened to try it from another computer with a 'full size' screen (2560*1600), and the same setup worked.

Resized the display down to the same size as my laptop screen, and the compile failed.

When running on a screen smaller than about 1000 lines vertically, the list under 'libraries' is truncated, only showing about 90% of the ones the compiler knows about. When this happens, you can't scroll the list to show the missing items, and according to which ones are missing off the screen, you get one of the various compile errors being shown. You can actually change the error by rearranging which ones are on the screen.

It appears the compiler only searches in the libraries that are in the list it shows on the screen.

The standard builds seem not to behave quite the same in this regard.

A real 'cracker' of a fault.

I'm also having the same problem with apm version 3.2.1 but didn't get any solution to this problem........

I get a lot of errors and I did all of the suggestions from this page but I couldn't solve the problem. Could you please help me?
