UAV Designing Advise

Hi everyone,

Me n my school team are designing a UAV meant for search & rescue, surveillance type and I need some help and advise with a few questions on designing the UAV.

  • We are using a propeller piston engine and, where would be the best place to install on the UAV?
  • Any recommended engines that can carry a minimum of 50 to 60 kg UAV?

  • well the "y" tail has worked the best in the past or you can go with a "V" but make note for this you will need a ransmiter programed for it, and im not sure how that would work .  your aircraft is designed around purpose if you want it to loier over an area for a long time the y tail  with long wings works best, or you can go with a dual tail (h shaped) with the tail forward  and down to avoid the propeller. can you post a pic of your engine and all the stuff you want to put in it?

  • for landing gear I recommend going to www.aerotelemetry.com they make landing gear forr uav's around the size you need, they will have good input also into mounting them.

  • the Nose is the best place as it is simple and balance is easy to formulate tower hobbies or nitro planes has rc gas engines do some research on the web- generally it will tell you weight recommendations. id like to say a 50cc single piston would be best, but ultimately it is up to you as the design is your creation. hope this helps and I hope im not to late, good luck!
