What GPS for fixing Ground Control Points??

Hi All,

I'm looking into the relative merits of using UAVs to produce topographic surveys in rural areas.

My question is; can I measure the co-ordinates of my Ground Control Points using a GPS with decimetre accuracy (+/- 10-30cm) and still achieve sub 10cm horizontal accuracy in my geo-rectified orthomosaic?

I'm looking at using the Timble Geo7 GPS device to measure GCPs and there is a big difference in price between the centimetre and decimetre variants (£6500 instead of £9000).

I'm inclined to assume that this might not be achievable regardless of the number of GCPs, and wandered if anyone had dealt with this issue before or has any advice on the subject?

Thanks, David
