WORLDS SMALLEST MASS PRODUCTION UAV?

The black hornet from PROXDYNAMICS comes in a three pack with controller for how much?  Unfortunately it will only be sold to the govt.  But do civilians have access to the technology required to make a stable, 20mph FPV nano-sized heli?  That's pushing it to the next level.

Judging by the size of the antenna trailing out the back end, they're using 440mhz-600mhz... for either the cam or flight control, unless it's a baseloaded antenna.  But those seem to be more succeptible to interference from nearby electronics.

  • Just to warn non-UK citizens the Daily Mail is known for its fearmongering harsh publications. A comedian even took the liberty of summarising the Daily Mail's cancer causing headlines into a 60 second video, inevitably the headlines say pretty much everything will cause cancer including (my favourites) too little sex, too much sex and breathing.

Even on Prox Dynamics site listing its specification there is no mention of real autonomous capability. It is just a small AR.Parrot.

  • Haven't seen anything from Peter Mullen since it was announced in 2009.  Noticed he pegged the throttle at full to keep it in the air.  The miniaturization people have since focused on ornithopters.

In wonder if it's really a UAV though.  Perhaps it's a small RC helicopter with stabilization?  When you get that small you have limitations on how many sensors you can carry (i.e. a sonar and gps are too big for that little heli) so it won't have a lot of features...but my guess is if you were really dedicated it's possible to get close to what they've done.  There was a post a few weeks ago about someone who had made a crazily small quad.  basically the frame was all on the pcb.
