Hi all...I build high-powered rockets, and have decided to see if I could build one that land itself at a pre-set location via autonomous onboard gear that could steer a parachute.I'm just in the very preliminary testing phase (figuring out how large
Does anyone know if gps ground speed data is purely 2D or can it compensate for changes in altitude ?ie... if a plane was flying in still air and it was in a 45 deg dive @ 30 knots airspeed , would the gps speed register 15 knots or 30?
There hasbeen increasing discussion of application of the UAV Dev Board IMU approach to CCPM RC Helicopters. Bill and I thought it would be useful to start a thread on this specific topic and see what interest there might be.
Hello guys, this is my first thread or discussion and I would like to introduce myself first.i graduated 3 years ago with a bachelor degree in aerospace engineering, my final design project was a UAV, but it was only the airframe and structure itself
Im a final year aerospace engineering student at the University of Manchester and am researching into systems for a UAV. Im after a magnetometer for the detection of anomalies really rather than navigation but am struggling to find anything, ive stum
Hey guys,Im new to this site but not to the Radio control world. Ive been flying radio control planes for over 10 years and compete on a weekly basis in the south in both freestyle and IMAC competitions. I have vast knowledge of the radio world and c
I am completly new and of course need guidance.I wish to build a directional antenna that ties into a gyro. I would like it to keep an antenna in a fixed direction using the input from my gyro. This would be for a ground based internet uplink from a
Quick introduction first: My name is Brian Mills and I've been employed in the commercial flight sim industry for 8+ years.Recently I've been working on an S-Function that integrates JSBSim (the default flight dynamic model for FlightGear open source
My question is about the use of magnets for fixing things in/on an airframe. I found that the small super magnets you easily find nowadays are very practical to replace Velcro tapes in many situations. The binding is stronger, less subject to move, a
Hello,For those of you that have successfully used the ArduPilot in an RC truck or car, have you used the basic ArduPilot 1.0 code and, if so, was it heavily modified from the code used to control airplanes? I'm just getting started on controlling my
Turns out a professor friend of mine is BIG into solar. We spent a good 40 minutes talking about it in his office today and flight and stuff.. If you have any questions on Thin Film solar, i will tryo to ask him when i see him again next week. Also,
I'm currently deployed to Iraq with the Marines, and since the war is winding down here I'm finding much more time on my hands than the last trip I took over here. The other day I helped one of our intel guys preflight our Raven UAV's and I'm really
Here is my code for the Parallax Propeller CPU using the guts of a Wii nun chuck as the accelerometer. The code is modified from Paul Huber's to use the nun chuck data. For a $15 accelerometer it works nice. Still worling on project.
I am currently studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Manchester, England,UK. One of my final year projects is to implement and integrate the communication systems onboard a rotary wing UAV (tumbleweed if you want to google it) (2kg payl
Hi!I'm planing to build an UAV helicopter. I don't own any rc helicopters and I never flew one. Which one do you recommend? What electronics should I use? I heard a few people talking about Arducopter, but I don't know where to buy it... Please reply
I am pouring thru all of the C code for ArduPilot and get most of it. I am having some difficulty understanding all that is done in the FailSafe code. Can anyone summarize what all is going on or point me to a reference? Thanks
