Mobius non-fish eye lens conversion



This Public Lab note explores alternative non-fish eye lens options for use with Public Lab Mobius Infragram plant cam or standard visible imagery Mobius. The "flat" images are preferred for mapping in MapKnitter or other auto-stitching programs. I'm interested because the Public Lab Kickstarter: Infragram: the Infrared Photography Project back in 2013 had almost 300 people pledge for this option, so there is a good sized set of potential users. I also hear that the unit continues to sell from the PL kit store. However, I don't see many user mapping results.

Interesting application of DJI Phantom quadcopter "drone" for roof and home inspection. When I stopped to talk, Anthony Hong gave quite the pitch.I sent him the link and called the office. They were watching it.


Off camera I asked if they had a FAA certificate or were flying under the radar.

"Under the radar," Hong said. Hmmm?

The lightweight form factor of PL Mobius Infragram Point and Shoot allows use of it with low-lift UAVs. Together with ability to correct fisheye effect, makes for another (albeit limited niche) aerial mapping tool in the toolbox.
