Just been testing this "new" copter.

Stable flying

Easy to build

PnP no need for installing code

Can be finetuned via software, but has 3 knobs to adjust gain in field.

 

Bad

ESC: Got problem starting the BL motor, but when motor are running it's pretty powerfull. (Need slow startup)

Navigation mode: (hold position and RTH) need more testing. Not working very well.

Some drift: (maybe better prop or balancing motor/prop could help)

 

All in all: Nice little Y copter. The FY91Q can easily be intergrated in much bigger frame with bigger motor /ESC or be used in other configuration (like X frame).

Need for work with the RTH or Hold position function, too early for me to say it's rock solid.

I'm testing a wireless wifi IP camera to see if it's possible to integrate in my UAV system.

Yes! I know analogue Wireless video is much easier and cheaper, but I think it's time to see if it's possible to make a long range WiFi video link "Secure".

 

For my test I will use a standard wireless D-link IP camera Model DCD-2121 and a Wireless Router D-Link DIR-635

The camera got standard 100mW output and I will try boost this with a WiFi Booster 2W. (not legal I know).

1. Test 640 x 480 pixel and 320 x 240 pixel 30 fps .

Without Booster and with standard Antenna on both Tx & Rx.

Receiver inside living room - going 100M away outside. Able to get 400 Kbps on 100 M range.

 

2. Test 640 x 480 pixel and 320 x 240 pixel 30 fps

With Booster and standard antenna on both Tx & Rx

Receiver inside living room - going 100M away outside. Able to get 4000 Kbps on 100 M range.

 

 

 

No HD quality I know I don't need it. The test was made with 20 other Wireless nets very near and with poor antenna both Tx and Rx.

 

Rx should have Patch and/or Yagi antenna.

 

Results: Booster works great to give better Broadband.

 

I'm waiting for this Wireless IP video server to arrive (Ebay). With this I can use other video camera + OSD + more suitable for fuselage.

New UAV/FPV platform

Hi All

I worked together with LanyuHobby (RC airplane manufacture) to make a good platform for FPV/UAV flying.

The Fuselage is made in PVC to make it very strong (Blow moulded). Very good and strong for the beatings and landings our planes are getting.

 

I know it's nearly impossible to make everybody happy, but I think we found a good compromise. (Strong, able to take payload, good space for electronics inside fuselage, platform for autopilot under wing (CG), platform for Vtx behind prop.

 

Great Mr. Ali made a review of a handmade test version

 

 

It need a name, here's some names.

The platform should be ready for sale next month, I think most vendors and maybe hobbyking will be selling the plane.

Made in strong EPP foam.

Not a RTF kit but a well cut kit made for the long dark nights...



Reviews from RCgroups say it's very stable and great flying platform. (better than Skywalker).

My newest find is the nice UAV platform are made in Asia but not Chinese made.

I plan to build this UAV with the FY3-zt Autopilot, the autopilot is ready for installing with the 433 Mhz data link for some range flying. (Electric motor set-up, don't like all the noise pollution in the air) ;-)

Price for this beauty is just under 2K with 30cc gas engine. Without engine 1.8k. (Yes it's a little pricey, but when you want things which smells right then it's gonna cost right)

"Skywalker" platform made in glass fibre

I know many of you people out there asked for the Skywalker made in Glass fibre or Kevlar.


I found the plane and I think it looks very much like the foam Skywalker version.

The model is made in strong GF and has a wingspan on 1.6 M.

Wings are made in balsa and the total weight is around 1 kg.
