Hi Alex, today we don't have any law or specific regulation regarding drones. But... there is an ad-hoc regulation which will become effective within ~120 days from now.
The new regulation says more or less:
If you drone is below 10Kg weight, and you are going to fly for recreational purposes, there is no need to worry about, you must only comply with the following points:
-You shall not fly over populated areas
-Fly below 120 feet
-You must be +18 years old
-Don't take pictures or film private property
In the other hand, you will be in Argentina... there is not such a thing like a Anti Drone Patrol or special training for cops about this new regulation. And remeber if something goes wrong... you must always have a u$s100 bill at hand, and everything is going to be alright. Consider it as being "insured".
BTW I will be at USA in December, we want to spend New Year's Eve in New York.
Hello Alejandro, thank you for your quick reply. My next worry is going through customs. I'm not planning on leaving it, just visiting, so hopefully it will be OK. I live din New York for 7 years, you will enjoy it. It's especially nice with all the Christmas decorations and lights - just be prepared for the cold! I will be arriving in Buenos Aires on Dec 9. Will you already be gone by then?
Alex, don't be worry about customs, no regulation against that kind of equipment, in the other hand custom taxes are just for Argentinian citizens who are importing electronic devices valued over u$s300. Tourists are free of custom taxes.
I will be in Buenos Aires Dec 9,
Dec 26 in NY getting ready to watch the ball drop in Time Square :)
Maybe we could meet either the 9th or 10th? On the 11th I will be flying to Cordoba, and from there to Bariloche, arriving back in Buenos Aires on the 26th - you'll be gone by then. And we are coming back to the US on the 31st. I'm assuming you live in Buenos Aires?
I just flew my Phantom for the first time! After several hours of doing firmware updates and battery charging... So, even though it was 11PM I had to go outside and try it. Tomorrow I will get a chance to try it some more.
