We are trying to tune a flyingwings Falcon 5 mapper pro flying wing. This may be a very silly question but is there an obvious way to slow down ground speed in auto?We have trim_throttle set at 30…Continue

Help with 3DR radios in MP

Started this discussion. Last reply by Stmpngrnd Oct 2, 2016. 8 Replies

I have several pairs of 3dr and clone 433MHz radios which were all working fine three days ago. They are all recognised using the standalone 3dr SiK radio software and when connected through that…Continue

Pixhawk problem with aileron output

Started this discussion. Last reply by Darrel Maddy Aug 7, 2016. 1 Reply

I have suddenly developed major jitter on the extreme ends of the aileron output from my 3DR pixhawk. I have checked the servos and leads with a servo tester, furthermore the ailerons function…Continue

I have just recently purchased a vufine for use when flying my drones. Sadly my eyesight is not what it once was and the MP display on the lens is difficult to read i.e. text sizes are too small for…Continue

"The other way you can slow down a flying wing is to increase the reflex in the wing and move the CG forward. This will create more drag and extra lift (to a point)  For example when launching a flying wing it is normal to add 15% up elevon to…"

"OK maybe I am being too pessimistic about the camera. I must confess that I have not used the A6000 before. When using the A5100 we tried to set a max of 3s between shots - this is not the exposure time but the time between shots. If it can shoot…"

Antonie Kruger replied to Darrel Maddy's discussion How to slow a flying wing
"Buddy, my point is that your camera takes to long to take the pic. The A6000 should manage an exposure at 1 second if not less. I use a QX1 at 1.65 seconds with a 20mm lens and a A6500 at one second with a 16mm lens. Maybe the issue is with your…"

Antonie Kruger replied to Darrel Maddy's discussion How to slow a flying wing
"Hi Darrel, The speed you define in your mission is the airspeed. In my experience, the only way to get the exposure rates you want is to limit the 'AUTO' settings on your camera. This is where the bottleneck comes in. You have to optimize…"

How to slow a flying wing

We are trying to tune a flyingwings Falcon 5 mapper pro flying wing. This may be a very silly question but is there an obvious way to slow down ground speed in auto?We have trim_throttle set at 30 and min set to 12m/s and max to 18m/s. Into wind we achieve the desired ground speed of <15m/s thus allowing our camera (A6000) sufficient time between shots (i.e. >3s). With a tail wind things get silly with speed exceeding 25m/s and thus the camera cannot shoot fast enough. Now it is windy (up…See More

Ya I dont know how to use "friends" either. it just said that i need to be friends with you to leave u a message. That is alot of X6's. I just made the launch ramp for mine, but still have to put a hook on the plane, and get a bungee cord. Where is your hook located? I have read that 50% between nose and cg is a good start point. Then adjust from there. what size batteries do you have? What motor/esc are u using? I am using a tacon bigfoot 15 900kv 2826, 50A esc, 4400 80c 4S battery, and 10X4.5 prop at the moment. Waiting on a 10X6 foldong prop and a 11X8 folding. I know that is too much for my motor and esc, but I am looking for max flight times, not sporty flying.

Once I get mine dialed in and it flies a perfect grid, I am going to either put a nex5r in the front for mapping, or 2 canon sx260hs in the wings for ndvi. I dont always have someone with me, so i need to get that bungee system working. I want to get cameras on this thing asap and start making some money!
