ARM announces new Cortex M7 core, uses PX4 and 3DR vehicles as use case

Posted on September 24, 2014 at 5:30am 11 Comments

Cross-post from my original G+ plus post, based on a The Register article: ARM just announced a new embedded core, the Cortex M7 with up to 400 MHz clock speed. The CPU is in general faster and has…

Earth rotation rate contest (temperature compensation of sensors)

Posted on December 23, 2013 at 8:00am 4 Comments

One of the widely ignored (in open source projects, not in industry) sources of error in attitude and inertial estimation are temperature dependent offsets and scaling changes (some open source systems do, and we would love to hear about how you are doing it…

Autonomous Christmas Lab

Congratulations to our colleagues from the Autonomous Systems Lab next door at ETH Zurich - this is a truly amazing video! And yes - working on robotics at ETH means you get a lot to play with toys.

Turn your phone into a 3D scanner - and next your quadrotor

The Computer Vision and Geometry Lab of ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) might be in this community mostly known for Pixhawk and PX4, but our research focus is in fact 3D reconstruction, which means to create 3D models from 2D images (mostly, but we also…

Hi Lorenz,

I saw recent mention of a Potential CAN IO / Distributed processing board for the PX4 that Greg Brill was working on with you and I wondered what the status might be.

I am very interested in it for use in a 2 wheel robot that I am building that uses brushless bicycle wheels.

Thank You,

Gary

I have been trying to find the specs/blueprints for the stereo camera described here to reproduce the work mentioned in the ETH paper Autonomous Obstacle Avoidance and Maneuvering on a Vision-Guided MAV Using On-Board Processing

Is it available as open source hardware, is this something that 3DRobotics is thinking about releasing in the near future -  ie would I be wasting my time to trying to build it from scratch (besides gaining understanding)?

Hi Lorenz,

i'm currently writing my masters thesis on building and equipping an mav with an windsensor. Now i have some big problems reading the sensor data into the pixhawk as described here:

pixhawk custom sensor integration

I thought it would be the best idea to ask you.

Can you Please have a short look at my problem?

Thank you in advance !

Kind regards

Marvin
