Can anybody suggest some reinforcement ideas for the skywalker nose?

Due to CG constraints we have to place our 450 gms camera gimbal in the nose for which a large hole was cut out.

The system is 5.5 kgs and crashes bad resulting in the nose area getting damaged everytime.

Fiberglassing may work but incase of a bad crash it becomes impossible to glue the pieces back. Also adds weight!

Also just to clarify the whole has been cut right where you install your nose gear and i would have to probably glass the entire thing from outside.

I catapult launch it and yeah so any mislaunch and I get a broken nose to repair!

I live in India and I am part of the UAV team in my university. Another guy from the team is the pilot, yet to learn flying myself =p.

Well that is kind of sad that you are in the other side of the planet! Never the less I'm more than glad only if in any way I manage to give you some kind of help with your problem. I use a 1.2 Oz Fiberglass mat and is as thin as a piece of paper "The ones used to print on the computer" and it doesn't add that much weight! Also more important than any thing else is the fact that it actually increase the strength of the plane so much that it make the plane almost indestructible, I have seen many many harsh landings that would have destroyed the plane if it wouldn't have been cover in fiberglass.
