Profile Information

About Me:
I have a passion for technology, education and entrepreneurship. I began using computers and programming on early Commodore and Apple computers 30 years ago. The many innovations, leaders and social changes I have witnessed drives my passion to innovate. My family environment also helped me to further my skills and deepen my knowledge in technology. Born into a family of pilots who maintained aircraft for many years, I was afforded the opportunity to have many different types of tools and mentors to shape my life.

My past projects for research and innovation include: flight instrument haptic sensing, infrared runway traffic signals, pilot selection process, positive attributes of pilots, application development, uav, advanced display systems, robotics, wearables, 3D printing, data collection and sensors.
Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest
I am interested in UAV for military and defense and also private commercialization. I have flight experience with several small micro platforms and Gaui 330. I am also interested in precision agriculture benefits and land conservation and preservation.

Capturing Images With Film Not a Digital Camera, A Pioneer of UAS

Posted on July 25, 2014 at 8:49am 2 Comments

We like to think what we are doing is new, however some folks have been pioneering the way for us for a long time. People like Bert Wagner of Advanced Aerials can remember a time he would use film to capture images and then run to the 1 hour photo to have them developed. Only when the film was developed did they find out if they got the shot or if they had to go back and re-shoot. This article I am linking to is from 1998 Rotary Modeler Magazine…

DJI Phantom 2 - Attacked by Police Helicopter at Great Falls VA

Posted on July 8, 2014 at 5:51pm 25 Comments

This video is so good it needs it's own post, it was originally mentioned by Rob_Lefebvre in our previous discussion about the NYPD helicopter. I am from Virginia it surprises me that this person was detained shortly and only got a $70 fine in a national park.

Two men from Inwood arrested after they flew drone near George Washington Bridge, nearly hit NYPD helicopter.

First off these guys were in the wrong and got caught, I am not defending the stupidity of flying close to an aircraft. However, to create a story with a headline "nearly hit" misleading most. Drones can be dangerous if flown next to aircraft. This is theoretically possible and flyers should stay away to avoid being arrested or at fault for a death!!
