Hi,I have nice setup of APM1 (2560) with Arduplane 2.40 in large flying wing. Plane is grounded for about a  year now and I want to fly it again. It worked well, everything was set up well. I am…Continue

I have idea of using cheap android phone on the plane. If  attach simple bluetooth<>serial module to Ardupilot telemetry port, Android phone will be able to conect to it. Then special software…Continue

"Hi, great project. I do not see this to measure battery current. Why? Would there be a schematic available? Or at least is it based on some battery monitor chip or is there common MCU? Will is communicate over I2C with APM like SmartBattery?"

kolin replied to mP1's discussion Eagle Eyes Antenna Tracker
"No. EagleEyes uses telemetry encoded in video (yes, really). And antenna tracking code is running in EagleTree autopilot itself and it sends only servo positions down trough video channel. It is very strange but I understand why they chose to it…"

kolin commented on eUGENE's blog post Is it possible to beat drone jammers?
"If they start jamming based on measuring near suspicious transmissions and not full time (FCC would not be happy about full time jamming everything) you could probably do it if your craft does not emit any recognizable RF signal. I use openLRS (on…"

kolin replied to Phil P's discussion RFD900 makes servos jitter
"Hi, sorry not to read whole article and maybe not answering right, but this is my experience: I built my own OpenLRS with 868MHz/1W  modules. So it is somewhat similar to RFD900. Cheap lousy servos get violent jitter when I come by with Tx…"

"Chris Norris: Wifi onboard does not affect my FPV or controls in any way. Flying on 868Mhz controls, 2.4GHz video. If you use common 2.4GHz RC gear, you are affected. I wonder if it has AV out and if so, if its as bad as gopro/mobius live out...."

RC system on 868MHz based on OpenLRS

Posted on December 23, 2012 at 11:35am 21 Comments

About year back, I found OpenLRS. When looked on schematics I discovered it's really simple. I checked local parts supplier and found out 433Mhz and 868Mhz RFM22B modules to be about 9$ Then calculated that price would be half if I do it myself. So I ordered 433Mhz (868 was not in stock) ones and started to copy Flytron's…
