Where are all the experts pouring over all the SOLO details?  I have been reading posts on another site on P3 just to stay tuned, lots of excitement there.

I don't know where the Phantom's are being sold, but Best Buy is a really major chain.  And that's quite a list of other chains that it's being sold at.  That's probably the most impressive part of all this is the move from DIY to Box Store...

Impressive looking new controller, one thing I've always thought we could improve on for sure.  Great work!

When you consider how underwhelming 3DR hardware has been to date, this is pretty spectacular. I hope it all works as advertised early on. There will be a lot of newbies taking these home from Best Buy.....better be idiot proof.

This is awesome. I preordered one.

Now, please share details on the tech specs! I asssume the Pixhawk 2 is Linux based?

exciting machine. Although I have to say the camera in their gimbal almost touches the ground. Leg extensions will probably be the first accessory sold ;-). I like the idea of the H-frame. But why not have the camera mounted in front. Avoids the need for a landing gear and gets rid of the pendulum effect when the camera hangs under the copter...

Very difficult to find hard numbers on tech specs. There is a long thread here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2387197&page=39 but not too many specs mentioned... I hope they open source the HD video link.

At some point 3DR will have to keep some IP non open source if they are to make any serious $$. Let's see.

It says that GoPro and gimbal weigh 300 g. I wonder what's the maximum payload for the Solo.

Could someone explain the need for a 3-axis gimbal mounted on a vehicle without retractable landing gear?
