SmartLink - 2x HD video, telemetry and control up to 20 km

Sky-Drones has launched a new product. It's called SMARTLINK, this is broadband digital datalink with integrated onboard computer. Two HD video channels, telemetry and control with ultra low latency and range up to 20 km. Fully supported by SmartAP GCS app on all platforms and compatible with PX4, Ardupilot, QGroundControl and Mission Planner. More information here.

AIR Module

SmartLink Air is based on powerful quad-core ARM Cortex A53 SoC (system-on-chip) computer running Linux. 

The system is capable of handling two real time HD video streams from cameras, autopilot telemetry and control. 

It also has plenty of resources for user applications. Various interfaces e.g. USB, UART, I2C, SPI allow to connect payload and tightly integrate it with flight controller and / or ground control station

GROUND Module

Ground module is very compact and lightweight, it has micro USB connector to interact with any kind of device - laptops, smartphones, tablets, desktop computers supported. All you need to do is connect it and open SmartAP GCS App.

Ground module features active cooling system which allows the module to withstand high ambient temperatures making it reliable even in harsh environments.

2x2 MIMO technology provides higher bandwidth, lower latency and longer range.

SOFTWARE

SmartLink was specifically designed to be used with SmartAP GCS - powerful cross-platform ground control station. SmartAP GCS supports:

  • 2x HD video streams display
  • Full camera controls
  • Video recording on microSD card
  • Image capture on microSD card
  • Radio settings configuration
  • Drone control joystick
  • Payload control joystick

SmartAP GCS can be used on any platform and operating system including MacOS, Windows, iOS, Android and Linux.

Is the encryption 128 or 256 bit? 

Any possibility of a version not made in Russia or China? Unfortunately, the US government is going to reject either of those :-(

Standard encryption is 128 bit AES but 256 bit option is available too.

We manufacture the systems in the UK.

Great. Assuming that US government won't accept any Russian technology, can this be legitimately presented as UK (or other NATO) tech in both SW and HW? Hope so, since it looks awesome

Of course, this is actually the one of the reasons why we manufacture in the UK. I believe there should be quite large demand for this system in the US and it's vital to follow NATO guidelines for such technology.

I think what procurement is going to require evidence of is:

1) controlling ownership of creator company is in a NATO country

2) control of code is in a NATO country

3) manufacturing is in a NATO country

If you can demonstrate all of that, I think you're in good shape

Nice product ! Will it work with any HD camera having HDMI out ? I am asking this because I have seen people saying that their HD FPV system works few HD cameras and does not work with many other HD cameras having HDMI out.

Rana, we support cameras which output up to 1080p including. I can't say for 'all' cameras but we've tested with a few dozens of different cameras so far and all of them work fine.
