Once we can offer a version of the uBlox module that is plug-and-play, like the EM406, we will switch to that as the recommended GPS. We will continue to support the EM406, but it will no longer be the recommended one. Right now it's too hard for most people to use the uBlox, due to very fiddly soldering, but we're planning to do that for them.

i guess i'm on for a Ublox is it'll be the "recommended one", as soon as it get in stock from spark fun, i'll buy it

but i still like the NEMA protocol
iknow that it is not good for you but suporting different component is giving the ardupilot a strengh (my point of view any ways)

by the way i'm trying to understand the Sirf binary protocol, do you have some datasheet and examples??
i know i'm late, the ardupilot uses Ublox protocol but....

Peter don't forget to give us your report please ,geting late here, i'll try to go for a full try tomorrow:

Flybywire + Jordi special "for Peter" code
how long is the aquisition when you just use it like so ? (without backup battery)

99 degrees is winter whether for me, suicide when is 115 degrees like a week ago. The worse part is when i get in the car and is maybe 120 inside and for some reason the air condition stop working at all after 110 degrees.

Em406 and locosys is like saying = Ford Focus and Honda Civic. uBlox is like Ferrari, difficult to find, expensive, incredible very well designed and super, super accurate, is only 4hz but real 4HZ. The problem is that the gs406 module (china made) with uBlox chip set do not incorporate the backup battery. So normally takes like 1 minutes to lock sats, but if you disconnect momentary you will have to wait another 60 seconds. With the backup battery will be instantly lock.

Peter thank you i will send you my info. About the code i made for you I'm not sure if it will work, but i case it continues giving you trouble at least i eliminate one possibility. I will use the elimination method.

I look forward to getting your unit when its ready. P.S. - I got the Xplane Ardusim working with the new board. Its very cool to test flight missions and watch your plane servos move in concert in Xplane with google maps open. I will post up a zip either tomorrow of friday for others to utilize, might help testing there systems before flight to confirm all systems work...
