Another APM Powered Quad from Aerosky

I recently came across a very interesting Quad Copter from Aerosky call the X350. The don't mention the APM but in the manual it states that it is compatible with DroidPlanner and Mission Planner. The price is great if it flies as the advertise

For the RTF price of 399.00 I am considering getting one to test. It does not state anywhere that an APM/or compatible is in it. I thought that under the Open Source rules they had to mention the Group of Developers etc...

  • It seems all the posts about the Aerosky X350 drone, on various quad or drone forums are older. Not much since 2015 or 2016. I wonder why?

Also- does anybody know of a good source of batteries that are reasonably priced?   I can change connectors if need be.

  • Have you opened it up to see what makes it tick? Truely interested in seeing the layout of the avionics inside.

    Thanks

    Joe

  • UPDATE:

The problem with the quad was that the throttle trim was near max instead of at center (normal) and it wouldn't arm. Pretty embarrassed about that but hey, glad it wasn't programming problem or worse. On it's way back to me. Hope to have it for the long Memorial Day Weekend.

  • I am having a problem with the Quad today. I got it all out and put everything together and had it on kitchen table. Turned on TX, hooked up battery, waited until GPS locked in steady green and then moved throttle stick to the right and held it and the Quad came to life and purred nicely. I ran it up to half throttle and it was about 25% and still smooth. Then I slowly moved up and nothing happened for about five seconds and then it went to full power even though I had throttle at about 70% max. It was pulling up very hard and then I went back to half throttle and it took about 5 seconds to settle back down.

I then unhooked the battery and turned off TX and took it outside to see what it would do in real flight conditions. I turned on TX, hooked up battery, got a beep and all the right lights began flashing. Waited for steady green light and the red light was flashing. I then moved throttle stick to the right and NOTHING.

I repeated the procedure at least 5 times and still nothing happens with motors. I replaced AA batteries in TX just to rule that out. I check the lipo to make sure it had plenty of juice, it did. It never did start up the motors again.

I don't want to open up the quad and perhaps void any warranty. I suspect a wire may have come loose or ??? I bought on Amazon and have alerted the seller. Waiting on reply.

Just wanted you guys to know.

    Russ

P.S. I have four other quads and am familiar with this type of start-up process but this one is the most sophisticated by far.

  • Aerosky has been selling their apm 2.5 module for a while. http://www.nitroplanes.com/05p-p3-3333-apm-gps-upgrade-kit.html. I am surprised it has not been reviewed before. I am guessing it's the same gear in the x350.

  • I was just reading through the Aerosky Telemetry Module description and it says, " Firmware upgrades and configuration are fully supported in the APM Mission Planner." So I'm hoping it's compatible.

  • I just ordered one of these and would sure like to know some specs on the hardware. Like what mission planning software it will use? Is it compatible with any other TX's out there? How would you hook up a gimble for a camera to operate? In the "Follow Me" mode, does it use WiFi, GPS, or ?

As soon as I get mine in a week or so, I will try it with Mission Planner to see if it works. I got the telemetry hardware also.
