APM 2.5 from hobbyking

This Blog is closed now from  posting further comments as per the request.

Hmmm Now hobbyking is selling:

ArduPilot Mega V2.5 Flight Controller USB/GYRO/ACC/MAG/BARO

3689524436?profile=original

72 USD for the hobbyking APM 2.5 board

3689524503?profile=original

3689524390?profile=original

GPS 52 USD

Are hobbyking selling this under license or is it a CN clone?

Can hobbyking use the name Ardupilot 2.5?

    @DS,

    I have removed the email image per your request and have asked Hooks to close this thread out as it really has gone OT.

    Gentlemen,

    This thread is starting to get way OT. Maybe it is about time to close this thread out as it is becoming nothing but a flame war between several members and has lost its original intent of discussing new HK clones.

    @DS,

    I would appreciate it if you would modify the email in your last post so that certain four letter words are removed to meet the website TOS. Otherwise I will have to exercise my editorial discression.

  • On a side note, if anyone has ordered it, please post the buddy code. Thanks

  • +1 Eric (actually it deserves more than +1)

    Kevin you do find some really important issues and let us all be happy about that. Finding an error is in my world just as important as writing new code, but remember that the person who wrote the code (or designed the HW, wrote something in the Wiki or ...) did not put the bug intentionally. The outcome should hopefully be that everyone says "great we fixed the error together" and not that you think the code is "horrible" and the developer feels that you are criticizing all the work he or she did.

  • Thanks Bill,

    Simple link to that lot from the front page.  Job done.

  • Monroe,

    Fair comment.  Looks like I have volunteered to do the job it before I do any more complaining.

  •  I have mexican coke imported over the border

    LOL, better watch that Kevin, lest some DEA agents read it the wrong way!  ;)

    :D

  • Mathew, I understand your concern about credit for the developers.  But I'm not sure it's a real issue.  I think most of the developers are self-motivated.  They just want to build something, and aren't that much interested in social credit.  If they were, you'd see more of them running around here with little "developer" banners under their pictures <cough>.  Many of them don't even come to DIYDrones often. It has been stated, that part of the reason is the horror of witnessing discussions like this.

    Many of them just want to have a good, affordable UAV system to use, and they appreciate having such a good starting point to work with.  "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."  They recognize this, and after making their own improvement, share it back with the community.  Pretty simple stuff.

    I think some would even shy away from too much attention?

    I know the only interest I have in credit, is whatever leverage it affords me in my drive to figure out how I can do this full-time, so I can accomplish more.  An hour per night just doesn't get me very far anymore.  I think I could do so much more if I could work on this stuff full time.  I don't see how a wiki entry really would help in that.

    And FYI, there is a list of contributors at the very top of Arducopter.pde

    Maybe now that HobbyKing is making money selling these boards, they can do their part in supporting developers?  I have bills.. thousands and thousands of dollars I've spent there over the past two years.  In fact, I just did another $300 order yesterday. Maybe they want to pitch in?  And not just me, but I think most of the developers buy everything there.  Crashes while developing the code come directly out of our pockets. Maybe HK can help out?  Even a discount and/or free shipping would be appreciated!

    Yeah, right.
