Developing Long-Range (600km) electric UAV


This is our new concept for a long-range fixed-wing UAV. 

The benefits of having a long-range UAV in search and rescue operations as well as in urgent transportation of blood and medicines are astonishing in terms of costs and effectiveness.

Surveillance operations and mapping are also two sectors where a similar air vehicle is essential for an efficient and fast survey.

From aerodynamic simulation: Speed range 20-30 m/s 

                                                 Max payload 1.5 kg

                                                 Range: 600km (depending on payload and wind, using NCR batteries)

                                                 Power consumption 22 - 40W

                                                 High stability.

Wingspan is 1.8m, making this drone easy to transport with any vehicle. 

We work to take into the market something that may improve the services also in developing countries with big land fields and under-developed street networks.

    what I want is something fast enough to be better than any ground or water vehicle for SAR and vitally urgent shipping.

     This UAV, once it needs to land, will deploy a parachute (the design of such parachute system has already been done and the parachute systems have already been tested by deploying some packages from our cargo quadcopters) from the tail section to make a soft landing without the risk of a standard horizontal landing and without the need of any runway.

    During the previous message, I used the term "stall" in a way that is not appropriate and I apologize for this, the minimum cruise speed which is not the stall speed will be under 20 m/s (maximum cruise speed: 28 m/s, top speed: 35m/s). All data are from computer-assisted design software and CFD simulations.

    not sure to fully understand your aerodynamics. Stall speed of 20m/s means landing at ~70km/h !! Are you sure that you want that?

    I already updated the wing design, the thin airfoil section is to make it really efficient, unfortunately, it also increases the stall speed (a bad thing if you want it to land softly on any terrain and to be hand-launched) so the new design has a lower stall speed (under 20 m/s). The maximum take-off weight for this plane is 2500g.

    I already bought the composite materials to build the prototype and will test fly it as soon as possible.

    interesting performance data of your concept. They fully correspond with my wish list. What stage is the project currently? The airfoil and wing section seems very thin and small. What's the MTOW you consider for this plane?
