I've had bad experiences with the last innovations DJI came up with in the last 6 months.

In my opinion Lightbridge isnt that great.

Just received the Zenmuse the second time from the dealer.. Now its not working together with the Lightbridge as it should.

    I'm not impressed at all.

For the price point I should not be the beta-tester!

Glad it wasnt my money but you might get an idea how the colleague feels with a huge amount of money wasted and still not working solution "out of the box".. pfff

With DIY hardware i am at least able to fix problems without sending the whole thing back to the dealer. It is annoying.

  • With this and the Ghost it really shows that the RTF demand for drones is growing at a much faster pace than the DIY ones, that may even be in decline.  "Most" people, besides us, want to open a box and take a "dronie".  With this price it is not geared for the consumer, but more for the up and coming "prosumer" market that wants to, for example, get into realtor or advertising contracts, to start a business for a somewhat starter price.  Anyhow I still think my videos from my DiscoPro/APM 2.6/GoPro with spline out does the videos from the T600 that I have seen.

We use both 3DR APM and DJI NAZA @

  • OK, definitelly a good product then!

  • Brand new controller and yes waypoints are available as well as auto take off and land.

  • I've not seen in the product description what controller is used (WKM, A2, ?) and if waypoints and auto missions are available.

    Anybody knows it?

  • Umm, for the record with regards to HD FPV downlinks...

Has anyone here ever heard of the Paralinx Arrow?  HD video downlink that will transmist anything coming out of an HDMI port...  I'm planning to implement exactly that on my Hexa to relay the output from a GH4 live to the client...  We are actually putting a safety case together to send to the CAA to allow the client to use video from the UAV directly on the public display screens at the venue...

Don't get me wrong lightbridge is great if you already use DJI kit, but I don't see why you would use it over the paralinx if you use Ardupilot...

I appreciate the range is not exactly comparable, however in our use case that won't be an issue.  For longer range transmission the DJI has an advantage, but I would argue that generally users of longer range systems won't need live transmission in HD, and standard res transmission would suffice...

For reference: the Paralinx Arrow retails at circa £760, the Lightbridge at circa £990...

A slightly higher end transmission system may be the Paralinx Tomahawk, though it retails at > £5K, its also a fairly heavy transmitter at 200g, with a range of approx. 600m...

All of these products have to my knowledge existed for longer than the lightbridge and are designed for commercial video production.  All the lightbridge really is is a flight optimised version of these products.  The innovation involves is therefore in my opinion reasonably small...

The main innovative thing they did was put all that stuff on a RTF platform. Like Hugues said, none of it is new, just now it's in an all-in-one package that someone can buy and use, which advances the hobby in one sense but doesn't really do much in the way of advancing the pure technical aspects of this field. People have already been doing HD FPV through micro single board computers, optical flow is already on all the Parrot drones, the changing frames where there are retractable legs have been done before (Top Flite Technologies), so none of what DJI did is really a pure technical advancement. However, getting it all together on a RTF ship is great and hopefully the performance of it will help push other players along to make it easier for people to get in to.

  • Cool design! Things just keep getting better all the time!!!

  • MR60

@mP1, I agree with the point they packaged lots of (not new) features in a very nice total package for an OK price; for those who like to buy a RTF. In the end it is not uniformity of opinion than matters; I am sure this model will do well in their targeted market segments (in which I obviously do not find myself).
