Our company GET (Global Energy Transmission) has built and successfully tested the world’s first prototype hardware that can wirelessly power heavy drones over long distances. The prototype shows, that we can build a cell-tower like power network for drones, so that drones can safely grab enough energy in seconds to fly payloads across the charging network to stay aloft indefinitely or reach delivery destinations.

The key feature of the technology is a long length flexible transmission cord, which forms area of energy reception with a distance of up to 20 meters from the cord. Separately, each drone should be supplied with special receiving hardware.

The transmission cord concept allows us to offer unique solution for industrial applications since such cord can be placed around the building, construction, or any other object, providing wireless power for drones, which can operate in a 24x7 mode in the dedicated area without recharging. This can be used for monitoring, security and other applications.

Additionally, using such transmission cord, we aim to deploy charging spots for drones, making wireless power network for them. How it works:

•           Charging spots can be located on the top of the roofs/in dedicated areas

•           Drones can be charged on the fly (over the charging spot and in 10-20 meters from it)

•           During several seconds, drone can grab amount of energy which is enough to jump to another spot in a several miles distance

Key competitive advantages compare with other solutions:

•           Waterproof, works at any weather

•           No necessary of precious positioning

•           Charging multiple drones simultaneously without limitation (up to maximum output power of the transmitter)

•           Preliminary research shows lower costs for manufacturing, installation and usage

We are sure this solution will fully disrupt commercial drone-enabled services, especially for commercial delivery and monitoring.

  • Жаль, для жизни не применимо :)

p.s. почему вы все время таскали стулья...

  • Dmitry, thank you.

When I saw it first time I had the same impression "It's a magic!", but my partners said "It's not a magic, it's physics". We believe that this is very efficient demonstration of the technology, but comments is definitely not a right place for full overview of math and physics related to it. Of course in case of interest from investors or partners we make a live demo of our distant wireless power solution. As soon as we make new video we'll publish it on our website and post it here.

Thank you again for your comments and feedback.

  • 80% sounds very good for a proto. It will be very interesting to see more cool demos once you have them.

  • I wish you a great success, but I have to say everything you have shown so far doesn't prove anything. It looks very much like "we have some special and a very secret magic".

It's not a big deal to hover inside of power cord loop. But powering a distant copter it is a totally different thing. In case you really looking for partners or investors you definitely need another video, with a distant copter used.

  • Dmitry,

Re your last comment: you are right – this is LF as it is specified on our website :)

    In-Flight Wireless Charging
  • Dmitry,

First of all, I'm not the CTO of our company :-)

Actually there is no contradiction... But I am afraid that I can't answer your questions here, because you mentioned some thoughts, that are valid in general, but the devil is in details. So in order to show you how those factors affect transmission efficiency in our solution, we need to deep dive in theory of resonant coupling and this particular implementation (we do have this in our tech papers, but I am not ready to share them publicly).

We don't have another video of demo flight yet.

I've sent you LinkedIn invitation for direct contact.

  • BTW, having in mind my so-many-year-ago experiments and size of coil on your copter I bet you are using frequencies something about 100kHz to 1MHz :)

  • typo happened, read please as: "it may help to deliver some power"

  • Thank you for provided answers, Dmitry,

    Few more questions:

How it is possible that "mounting transmission cord at a height of 1 meter or so from the ground/big metal objects" is preventing it from power loss and the same time it is "in general you have low losses as long as you are at a distance comparable with loop diameter"? Isn't there a contradiction?

Because you mentioned a "metal object are not resonant circuits" I can conclude your solution is based on resonance effect. I can see it may help to delower some power on some distance, but don't any load will reduce Q of the oscillatory circuit? The more load, the less Q, the less overall efficiency.

Do you have a demo video with copter hovering in 10 meters aside of power cord loop? Can we see it?

  • Hi Andreas,

In this prototype/demo there is 80% average efficiency of power transmission (and this is still a prototype!). We are currently looking for partners/investors to develop our technology and make commercial product with more than 90% efficiency and 100 times higher power level (aiming to achieve long distance wireless transmission for 100s kWatts – to quickly charge multiple high-power drones).
