Hi Everyone,

AUAV3 is now at a reduced price of $94.95 for a limited time.
There are several dedicated developers and most of the cool new features are at least in a beta form. We would like to see more users trying these boards and features. Also recently, 2 AUAV3's flew in the Spark Fun AVC and we have been very happy with their performance to date.
A nice video of Mark Whitehorn Addiction second flight is here - http://youtu.be/zsnYp0SMPfU

Some pictures from SparkFun AVC 2013:

...and the flight logs....nice,a ?

We are dedicated to the Matrix Pilot platform ( https://code.google.com/p/gentlenav/wiki/MatrixPilot ) and our board has many features that will make it the most capable Matrix Pilot supported board for the foreseeable future. Best of all they are in-stock and ready to ship, so why wait?

Special Thanks go to Robert Dickenson and Mark Whitehorn for all of their hard work and dedication to making the AUAV3 a success.
Sincerely,
Phil and Nick

    Jared,

Here is a link to the MatrixPilot website.

    Best regards,

    Jared,

Just to clarify one possible source of confusion: MP software will not run on APM and vice-versa. If you want to use MP software, you will need a MP compatible board. APM2.5 is not one of them.

    Best regards,

    Bill

    Jared,

    That is a fair question...

What you are getting with the matrix pilot board is the MatrixPilot software, support from the MatrixPilot community, and the benefits of MatrixPilot innovation. From the very beginning, the MatrixPilot community has been the source of many innovations in this field, including the core algorithms used in both APM and MP. The MP IMU was developed before the APM. Jordi Munoz spent a week with me at my house learning DCM and porting the algorithms to his prototype APM. That was the birth of 3DRobotics.

Lately, the innovations developed for MatrixPilot in the MP community have not been published on diydrones. Since the beginning of this year, the number of developers in the MP community has sharply increased, and the amount of innovation has accelerated.

So, if you want to be part of the MP community, you will need to buy a MP board. ;-)

    Best regards,

    Bill

  • it should be noted that buying a clone APM 2.5 would be no different that buying an entirely different system such as the matrix pilot but still being able to benefit from the open source code.

It should also be noted that buying other boards such as the multi wii with the ported over ode are no different than buying the clone that supports the code natively

All i asked was why i would buy this board over any other, price aside, what am i getting fom the matrix pilot that i do not get from other boards?

  • It should be noted that the APM 2.5 is from 3DR and the HKPilot Mega 2.5 is from Hobby King. The HKPilot Mega 2.5 is compatible with the APM 2.5 software, but not necessarily the same board.

    Jared,

Personally, I view the cloners as parasites. There has been much discussion on the subject.

    See this thread, for example.

    Jared,

As Nick pointed out, apm2.5 from hobbyking is a clone.

  • apm 2.5 from hobbyking $70

Apm 2.5 with gps $90 from hobbyking

  • Hi Jared,

A small correction concerning the APM2.5 price.....it is $70 for the clone....the original is more expensive. Let's be more correct!

    Sincerely,

    Nick
