Labor Day Weekend Quadcopter Build

My 5 year son executed a fantastic Labor Day build, so I thought I would share...

Frame: Mead Heavy Weight construction paper in "X"

Autopilot: "authentic" purple APM

GPS: Yup, that is the white thing.

Props: Orange

This quad also advances the state of the art by including a feather "to see how fast the wind is blowing" - no joke, that is what he said.  I may try that on my quad.

Anyhow, this made me laugh and I thought I would share, for those in the US have a nice labor day weekend - outside the US, have a nice weekend too.

  • Joe, proud papa indeed.

  • That's a great start for a future pilot/designer. I spent an evening with my granddaughter reviving some old paper airplane designs. I think it is very important children start getting back to building things and getting their hands dirty at an early age. Forty years ago a did my first engine swap from a Cougar to Mustang. Today many kids don't know what a rachet, or socket set is. Limit the video games and let that 5 year old keep up the good, creative work. Nice job by the boy and the proud Popa.

the energy your son did put into the build gonna hold it in the air forever :)

  • Hi,

Could you tell us his flying weight ? :D
  • I think you've got a future pilot there. Pretty Cool! You, too, have a great Labor Day Weekend.

  • Darrell - funny you say that - He is obsessed with selling his "works of art".  He wanted to sell this to passers by in front of our house... Had you been in the right place at the right time, it would be yours rather than be hanging on the wall of my office.

Rocketman - probably vibrates less than all of our frames, and it is loitering on my office wall - it is freaky stable almost like it isn't moving.
