  • Thanks for your post. I have recently maiden my Mako and I must say it was awesome. First plane I was able to fly successfully. Fast so not really great for beginners, but I am learning this wing and ArduPlane quickly.

  • Maybe it is that the combat wing is a bit heavier.  It is totally indestructible though which I like.  It goes really well however the axi is going to another project so it is going back to the standard 3530 NTM with the same prop which still flies really well.

    @Stephen,

    I have 2212 2200kv brushless motors in my EZ*s, which is bigger than the Mako, and they move the EZ*s along pretty well.

  • I have one in a Crash Test Hobby Grim Reaper XL - flies like a dream.  I must be a power freak as I am running an Axi 2814 12 with a 9.5 X 6 Aeronaut folding prop and I thought that was a bit slow.  Don't know how you fly on such a small motor.

    @Raph,

    Thanks for the response, much appreciated.

    Static pictures are much easier to review.

  • Hi Thomas,

    In the video I go into detail on all the individual components and also go over their layout in the fuse (with a closeup). If it's not clear i'll gladly take some pictures a bit later when I'm near the wing.

    The batteries i've been using are 3S 2200 giving me about 13-15 min. Also have a 3S 2600 which give me about 18-20 minutes. My AUW including 2200 battery is 2lb .06 ounces.

    It's a great durable wing; lots of fun - and with all the arduplane features, it really brings it to another level. If you get one and need any input don't hesitate to reach out. The PID's are nicely tuned, so I'll attach the params. Should get you off the ground quick.

    Best,

    Raph

    @Raph,

    I have been considering the RMRC Mako flying wing and based on your blog post I think that I will go ahead and purchase one this week.

    I have a spare APM2.6, GPS, compass, 2217 brushless motor, 30A ESC, and a couple of HS-65 servos laying around that will fill out the parts list.

    What capacity battery are you using?

    Can you post some pictures of your fuse component layout?

    Regards,

    TCIII AVD
