SmartAP is fully autonomous autopilot

Now SmartAP Autopilot is a fully autonomous autopilot. In this video a quadcopter equipped with SmartAP Autopilot performs autonomous take off and waypoint flight. After that it returns to home and demonstrates an autonomous landing.

  • @Avionics, Yes, I also think it would be nice. I just need to finish some things to make it convenient in use for customers.

@Euan, I absolutely understand you and agree, but partly. To my mind, what you see demonstrates high realibility and confidence concerning the system so I can not to care about the manual control. This is a step towards the idea in which operator doesn't have piloting skills and an only way to control the craft is high-level auto control (or guided which is also already implemented). That demo was tested before with the transmitter in my hands (but I didn't touch the sticks) to ensure and check if everything is alright.

  • Agree with the others - the move to ARM and 32bit is a good move. Looking forward to seeing a production version.
  • Yes, good video - but you're a bit blaisie about it. Normal safety etiquette would have you at least facing the craft, with controller in hand, in the event there is an auto malfunction.

Sitting, back to the vehicle, controls 2m away...not wise, and encourages the wrong sort of behaviour.
  • I think 3DRobatics should look in to your project for marketing it here within this community (if you want of course) it works flawless and matches all the softwares within diydrones so why not !?

  • Thank you all for the kind words!

@Olivier, Agree, STM32 has everything needed and fulfils requirements very well.

@Graham, Thanks! And yes, you're right. At the moment this is mostly research project which demonstrates the capabilities of the system. Of course, I have plans to commercialize the project, but I still need to finish some things, however, on the whole the autopilot is almost ready. I just can say that I'll try to set competitive price (it's quite difficult for the first times, because production costs are much bigger for less quantity).
Anyway, beta testers are welcome already today, so if you want to become one of them - pm me at diydrones or here.

@Jason, you catched the idea :)

@Avionics, thanks a lot! As soon as I finish the system I'll let you know and hopefuly you might become a tester (if you have interest and time for this of course). You have a good experience with the stuff like that and it is appreciated.

@Arthur, Thanks! And yes, exactly, SmartAP is very friendly with DroidPlanner :)

    Nice flight Kirill.

And it is controllable via DroidPlanner :).

  • Excellent Oliver ! my views are same as that of Graham.

Graham, make sure that your wife does'nt know all about this ;)

  • BRAVO Krill when something is perfect no one can say anything, what you have achieved is a great achievement and I wish you every success.

  • Maybe its demand and supply?....a preorder situation like many upstarts out there

Very nice, videos are impressive BUT I do have a (hopefully constructive) criticism: everything is on the website EXCEPT where to buy it and the cost, I'm sorry but that puts me off immediately. Why make it harder than it needs to be, if I'm sitting here with credit card in hand I cannot buy one now and there's no information on the website as to where I can buy one (or even the cost).

Why must a potential customer have to try search or ask for this vital information?
