Its been a while so lets try again. Had a hangout with Chris and we briefly spoke about the next T3 round. Chris will work on a top prize ;-)

The mission is simple, get airborne climb to 20m

Fly a cube with 50m sides, pausing for one minute at each corner, so your flight time cannot be anything less than 8 minutes..... Bonus points if you can stay longer at each corner....

The neatest cube KML wins.

If you can do this with a 3D aircraft I feel you would have a very strong chance of winning!

I will close the competition on April the 14th. I will be looking at where you are flying very closely. Please don't try this in public places or within 500m of any building / road.

Ok, but can we still get bonus points for going longer?  I can get 15 minutes out of mine, so 1 minute at each location is no problem.  And I want to try running two batteries in parallel.

The question about flying all edges remains.  That would definitely make it trickier, you'll have to hit each waypoint more than once.

I think you should have to fly all edges.

I also think in case of a tie, the person who spends longer at the corners should win.

OK, after many days of trying to make this work, I think I final got a good flight.  This is my stock Quad from 3DR without landing legs.  Less weight more flight time and I needed it too.  Battery alarm went off with 15 seconds still to go at the last corner.  Also had to deal with 8 mph winds.  Total flight time was over 11 minutes.  Now the question is how do I upload my KML file?

Are we allowed to change our uploaded file if we get a better one?  Also, can an individual upload more then one file if they have another aircraft they can use?

Really loved the challenge, and had fun explaining the challenge to RC pilots at the RC Airfield.

Richard,

I'm sure it's ok to upload multiple files.  I think the judges will need the kmz files to properly judge the sharpness of the corners etc (assuming that's part of their criteria).  So you did all edges and 10seconds at the corners or 1min at the corners?

1 minute on the corners, plus and extra minute transitioning the 4tg corner. How do I upload the KML file? There is no upload option here under blogs.

So you did all the edges?  Can't quite make that out.

Got my truck out of storage, heading to the field today...  I get 15 minutes out of mine, and I'm going to play with dual batteries...

Yea the pictures not the best. All 4 corners top and bottom and all 8 edges. Pretty happy with the edges, given the wind that day. Flying at 70m is pretty scary. I mean its way up there, a lot higher then where I normally fly. It's early in the morning when I fly and becaaue of the sun I lose sight of Quad on top far right corner. A little pray and some good coding by the Randy and the developers and it reappears. I also listen to my laptop and MP calling out flight position. It's a long 11 minutes. I only get one flight, since I have to get to work by 8:30am. Alao I only have 1 battery. My backup battery died in a crash back in November. My battery is 4S 3700mAh 30C. I have 2 - 4S 5000mAh 45C batteries on order. I wonder how long I can fly with both. Hmmm. LOL

I'm going to find out.  I've now got two 4S 5000's slung under the 3DR quad.  Looks a little like a pregnant guppy but...  :)  Gonna test fly it first. truck is ready, just gotta check the winch and I'll head out after lunch.

Still enough time for you to drive out here Dany. ;)

Well done Richard stunning. You can have as many goes as you like. I think you deserve quite a few bonus points for being first.

Great attempt! But 8 edges? You weren't shooting for 12 like a cube? :D.
