"If it's steady in MANUAL mode, then that looks like your Pololu is pretty well configured.  You were doing some nice slow movements. See if it oscillates if you do some fast short-travel oscillations (like the Pixhawk is commanding it to…"

"Hi, what's your steering actuator - is that off the shelf? I'm far from an expert on the tractor side, but here are a few thoughts. Also, I don't know your background so apologies if any of this is telling you how to suck eggs. 1)…"

How to improve steering on farm tractor/rover/Pixhawk

I have a 12 volt geared motor driving my power steering on a John Deere 5055e.  The Pixhawk channel 1 output is going into a JRK12V12 motor controller which is receiving angle sensor input from my AG Leader steering angle sensor. I have consistent RTK float GPS status coming from my ComNav K501G receiver. I’m looking for suggestions on how to improve cross track error.  I have adjusted 3 steering related settings to find the best fit (i.e. NAV1_PERIOD = 24; STEER2SRV_P = 19 and STEER2SRV_D =…See More

"Photo of the installation.  Brackets were made a fabrication shop nearby.  Cost $300.  I made the wiring harness with the parts from Mouser mentioned above, but I did not have it on when I took this photo.  The arc of travel is…"

"For those interested I just received my Wheel Angle Sensor Kit part no. 200-0625-01.  No time yet to install, but wanted to share photos of what came in the package.  Cost including shipping (in Texas) was $531. Be aware there is no…"

"Can you describe what is involved in installing the Outback kit a bit?  The quote I received from a Texas dealer was $7500.  (e.g. Am I replacing any existing power steering components or only adding components?)  Am I basically…"

"I think the definition of bravery comes to mind when I think about you "hacking" a $100K tractor.  Good for you. In a previous post you mentioned, "...You can get the valve and all the hoses and fittings from outback guidance for…"

"Just to say thank you for continuing to share.  I'm in Texas trying to steer my 50 hp JD with a home brew steering control solution since my model only has basic power steering and will be using the JRK21V3 and Arduino with the Pixhawk.…"

Grant Morphett replied to Al Jones's discussion How to calibrate APM 2.6 when the rover is too large rotate in the group ArduRover User Group
"Hi Ben.  You will get a better calibration if you rotate the APM within a powered vehicle however rotating it outside of the vehicle is much better then not doing it at all. Thanks, Grant."

Ben Norris replied to Al Jones's discussion How to calibrate APM 2.6 when the rover is too large rotate in the group ArduRover User Group
"You can't rotate the APM on its own because calibration is to take into account the surrounding fields caused by the rover itself."

"When I fired up my rover, the mission planner showed its direction to off by more than 180 degrees. After some simple driving around, the orientation started to resemble the rover. Way cool. Thanks for clarifying these steps RoboBill"

"Hi.  Setting COMPASS_LEARN will calibrate the compass but you still need to calibrate the Accels.  What your doing is the correct way for vehicles you can't physically move i.e. power the APM, do the rotation dance and then install…"
