Crash due to motor/esc failure?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Giuseppe D'Angelo Oct 3, 2014. 2 Replies

Hi,Could someone please look at my dataflash logs? My first impression was that the crash was caused by an ESC/motor failure of the pair off channel 1 due to Arducopter maxing out channel 1. But…Continue

Crash due to motor/esc failure?

Hi,Could someone please look at my dataflash logs? My first impression was that the crash was caused by an ESC/motor failure of the pair off channel 1 due to Arducopter maxing out channel 1. But after bench testing all motors/ESCs it appears that they all still work fine. Additionally during the descent the roll and pitch seem to track well, which I would not have expected. This leaves me at a loss as to the possible cause of the crash.…See More

"I wanted to look at the tlogs only so I didn't have graph in Excel. Dataflash log’s COMPASS message hold the compass’s raw x, y and z axis values (called MagX, MagY, MagZ) which are equivalent to the tlog’s RAW_IMU xmag, ymag…"

"From what I have read about stall spins, An autopilot would steer out of it and pitch up to try to recover, which woudl infact worsen the stall spin.  If RTL helped you then I doubt it was a stall spin"
