I plan on building a system to relay telemetry from a low flying craft back to the ground station via a high flyer that is orbiting with line of sight to both the ground station and low flying craft.…Continue

Crash Disarm

I have built a thrust stand for my vehicle and to use it the craft is mounted upside down for reasons too complicated to explain here.  It seems one of the recent upgrades to mission planner includes…Continue

I am building a dynamic full vehicle thrust stand and need to be able to set the throttles to specific levels for calibration purposes.  Is there a way using the mission planner and a joystick as my…Continue

Arcturus Jump - Piccolo autopilot using Latitude Engineering’s Hybrid-Quadrotor technology

Posted on April 24, 2014 at 8:30am 41 Comments

Is any work being done by the development team to add this class of vehicle to the capabilities of the APM or Pixhawk series of autopilots?   The Arcturus design is very nice and looks like a very useful cross between Multi-rotor and normal aircraft…

Hero3 Mass Model(s)

I modeled and printed some GoPro Hero3 Mass Models for use with my Tarot T-2D gimbal.  I decided it was dumb to constantly risk my Hero3 when I didn't need to so I created these.  One is a straight form/fit/weight model of a Hero3.  One is to carry my…

Device which could keep a Quad with Engine failure from crashing....

Posted on September 30, 2013 at 6:24pm 30 Comments

a four rotor quad copter needs all four engines/props to be functioning to fly - if either a prop or motor fails the air vehicle rolls in the direction of that engine due to the change in the center of lift and it tumbles out of the sky like a rock.  one potential solution to this condition would be to cycle the opposite prop to control the…

I'm not sure if you can import kml files into Mission Planner. On the lower right side of the screen under the "Flight Plan" screen there is a "View KML" clickable link, so maybe that pulls a kml file onto the screen. It didn't work for me when I tried it though. Of course I didn't know what the hell I was doing...

i won one.....  i just imported a .kmz file into mission planner.   you can import a .kmz file by right clicking on the map in mission planner, pick map tool, then kml overlay.  it pulled in a .kmz file for me.  the button you are talking about exports your mission planner data to a .kml file for google earth.  it's nice they have a link both ways.  this software is incredibly non user friendly - maybe the new mac version will be better.  i tried the mac version a couple of weeks ago (in beta) and it was missing a bunch of features.  they keep promising it will be SOON.... but i guess SOON is relative....
