I'm currently the CEO of a small telecommunications company in the Caribbean. My academic background is Computer Science and Engineering. I’m not very good at the DIY stuff – I’m all thumbs – but I’m comfortable applying novel technologies/solutions to complex problems.
Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest
My interest in UAV is that I would like to utilize them to inspect cell sites – mainly towers – after a natural disaster – mainly hurricanes. The UAV needs to be able to fly to a site, record video of the site onboard, and return to a home location with the video. The UAV will need to fly up to max of 10 miles and back totally untethered, as after a disaster it will almost certainly have no reliable way of communicating back to a home base. I’m not sure of UAV speeds, but it wouldn’t need to spend more than 10 minutes inspecting the site.
I am prepared to pay to have a UAV designed for this purpose, and if it works well, I am prepared to buy a fleet of them.
