APM 2.6 v3.0.1: I miss Armed "Motor Spin". MOT_SPIN_ARMED gone?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Bill Isenberger Dec 2, 2017. 8 Replies

I have a few older ArduCopters, and really liked the way they turn on the motors at low idle speed when the ship is armed.  That's a very clear visual indication of Arming and Disarming, and served…Continue

APM 2.6 v3.0.1: Refuses to ARM, won't say why

Started this discussion. Last reply by FrancoisBONIN Dec 19, 2016. 8 Replies

I've had to disable the Pre-ARM checks on my APM (Y6 f/w 3.0.1) because it will not arm.The confusing part is that it won't say *why* it doesn't arm.I have Mission Planner running, via 3DR telemetry,…Continue

Arducopter frame design: Where to learn/read?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Michel Dias Arouca de Souza Oct 13, 2012. 17 Replies

I'm scratch-building a new Octocopter, in the style of the Hashcopter, using square aluminum tube, and eight motors ganged as pairs with (Quad) Arducopter software. Where is a good place to learn the…Continue

Wind Damping for Barometer?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Ground Loop Feb 9, 2011. 2 Replies

I've noticed that the Arducopter holds much more stable altitudes in steady air than it does in wind. On breezy days, the Arducopter will climb/fall spontaneously while in GPS Hold.  In still air, it…Continue

"I looked at those HK links, but they appear to be drop-down regulators only, and need about 1v higher going in than out.  The 11.1v 3S pack would get dropped low enough to fail the LED lights @ 12v. The buck/boost regulators generally cost…"

"All true -- the higher voltage allows lower gauge wire or less resistive power loss, and higher voltage means more RPM on-tap. There are downsides.. the 4S batteries (as a generalization) have less energy/gr because of the added cell (packing,…"

Arducopter gets excellent navigation lights: $11, but 91g

Posted on February 12, 2011 at 11:30pm 8 Comments

In-flight orientation continues to be a challenge in fast forward flight, so I thought I'd try some LED lighting.

These lights are each 24 centimeter strips, with 24 LEDs molded in.  I got them from eBay seller 'brledlight', and I'm amazed at the average selling price of these things.. less than $3 each!  What a…

New Arducopter survives maiden flight, with grace and style.

Posted on December 26, 2010 at 11:30pm 20 Comments

My DIYDrones Arducopter survived its first few flights without incident!  This is my first quadcopter, and first Ardupilot project, so I'm actually a little surprised it flew so well.

Very stable.

This is the FahPah "all up" kit, with an added XBee Tx and Futaba R6008HS.

Arducopter NG software, untouched except to enable XBee.  No…
