Yikes! Why did it fail in midair? It looked like a pretty sedate flight?

There was structural failure in the wing, it wasn't designed to handle the kind of weight we had in it. In a steep descent the wing literally snapped in half on both sides of the fuselage and then it plummeted to the ground.

well i was going to ask what kind of airplane that is but after i saw the accident i think im going to pass.

Well it was a Sig Kadet Senior, but we had much more weight in it (about 6-9 pounds) than it was designed for, otherwise it's a decent aircraft, it flies great without all the excess weight. But now we're in the process of designing and building new wings.
