Jakob Schmidt commented on Gisela & Joe Noci's blog post More 433 MHz antenna - the 1/2wave Ring Radiator
"I have been fascinated by this design for a while, mostly due to it's compact size and I now have a project where range is not hugely important, but compactness is, so decided to give this a shot. This one is just roughly assembled to test the…"

Jakob Schmidt replied to Virgil's discussion Setting time on Pixhawk in PIXHAWK
"Will, This just logs GPS data? What advantages does that offer over the datalogs on the Pixhawk?."

Jakob Schmidt replied to Onur BOY's discussion External USB&Led adapters not working with pixhawk boards
"I had a clone LED/USB that never worked reliably, but the 3DR one has worked flawlessly."

Jakob Schmidt replied to elad orbach's discussion my diy ground control station
"Since the laptop is no longer in the lid, I could ditch the fans and put in a set of small 3watt speakers there instead.They're powered by a PAM8403 board like this:

Jakob Schmidt replied to elad orbach's discussion my diy ground control station
"Old laptop was kinda slow and used way too much power, so I got one of these instead:

Uses about 0.5A at full speed and runs Mission Planner without any issues at all. Hooked it…"

Jakob Schmidt commented on Jeff Taylor's blog post Introducing the E386 Mapping Drone
"How does this work with regards to operating it in Canada? Don't you need permission from Health Canada to mount any laser on a UAV?"

Jakob Schmidt replied to elad orbach's discussion my diy ground control station
"I used this one:

Jakob Schmidt replied to Jacques Eloff's discussion Pixhawk Pitch and Roll Sensitivity in FBWA Mode in ArduPlane User Group
"I'll check mine tomorrow. I actually never fly in FBWA. I fly in auto 90% of the time, the rest in manual or stabilized. (usually land in stabilized)."

Jakob Schmidt replied to Jacques Eloff's discussion Pixhawk Pitch and Roll Sensitivity in FBWA Mode in ArduPlane User Group
"That's the idea. Ideally you should figure out the stall speed first and then set the fbw_min above that.  It's a little tricky to find precisely, but to my best estimates my Talon has a stall speed of ~10m/s, so I have fbw_min set to 13m/s. This…"

Jakob Schmidt replied to Tim V's discussion Hand launch in Auto mode
"I have :

ARMING_CHECK = 0
ARMING_DIS_RUD = 0
ARMING_REQUIRE: 64 (RC failsafe only...really should set it to 72 for field work)
BRD_SAFETY_ENABLE=1

What if you reduce the values so that you can arm it by doing fake throws? Take the prop off first,…"

GCS: Mission Planner. Why? lack of other options?Features: Setup, planning and flight monitoring, post-flight review.

Flight planning interface is not very intuitive, but works ok once you get used to it.Worst is…"
