"Clifton,

Thank you for the correction.

Chris Hardwick replied to ActionDrone's discussion Flying with KP-Index above 5 in PIXHAWK
"Can you tell us what you mean by "Kp index"?

At a glance, this sounds to me like a KK P-gain parameter. As for APM/Pixhawk P-gains, my aircraft routinely autotune with P-gains over 5. I don't think that this is dangerous at all. The gains that…"

Chris Hardwick replied to Chris Hardwick's discussion Strange Vibration Issue
"Hi Graham,

Thanks for the reply and your suggestions.

There is one more moment arm that I could eliminate. That is the external static pressure port. It has very little mass, but it's worth a try at this point. I guess I could also try flying with…"

Chris Hardwick replied to Chris Hardwick's discussion Strange Vibration Issue
"In case anyone is interested in this issue, I have continued to work on it.

Additional actions taken are:
Swap arms for original fixed arms
Reverted to early gimbal mount
Removed VTx antenna extension
Disabled camera gimbal, now fixed in place with…"

I first posted this in Unassigned, but it wasn't getting any traction.Hi All,I have been chasing jello in my video for about seven months now. Somewhere along the line I've introduced a new vibration problem that I don't understand and haven't been…

Chris Hardwick replied to Chris Hardwick's discussion KDE Driect motor vibration issue
"At this point I have sent back all four motors for inspection/rework. Three of the four now operate as I would expect. The fourth seems worse. The over-all performance is much better. My gimbal can now stabilize, but I still have issues with jello.…"

Chris Hardwick replied to Chris Hardwick's discussion Pixhawk apparently losing ESC calibration data
"To close the loop on this issue...

After programming fixed throttle endpoints in the ESCs, my problem seems to be resolved. The is not the preferred solution, but it is an acceptable work-around.

Thanks to all for the help and suggestions."

Chris Hardwick replied to Chris Hardwick's discussion KDE Driect motor vibration issue
"Thanks guys. You have answered my question quite well and I appreciate it.
I'm using the 885kv motor.
What is most surprising to me is the motor-to-motor variance in vibration, without props. One motor needs no balancing. The others I have fought…"

Chris Hardwick replied to Chris Hardwick's discussion KDE Driect motor vibration issue
"Thanks for the replies.
I've had a long dialog with Patrick. He's been great, and has had some good advice on a few technical issues.
For the record I'm not looking to crucify him on the internet. I'm just hoping to get some reassurance that my…"

Hey All,Does anyone have personal experience with KDE motors? I have two sets of four; one set each of two sizes. The larger size seems to work fine, but the smaller size, 2315 have serious vibration issues. Even balancing them the best I can with…

Chris Hardwick left a comment on PIXHAWK
"C K,
My understanding is that the blue LED does not indicate a GPS 3D fix. Only a green LED indicates a 3D fix. I get a blue LED when I am using flight modes that don't require GPS. Sometimes the LED will change to green anyway when a GPS 3D fix is…"

Chris Hardwick replied to Chris Hardwick's discussion Pixhawk apparently losing ESC calibration data
"I hesitate to give a name, only because the supplier has been very helpful in every other way. For the most part, they seem to provide a very good product. For example, the motors and ESCs that I bought from them take my TBS Disco from 10-12 minute…"

Chris Hardwick replied to Chris Hardwick's discussion Pixhawk apparently losing ESC calibration data
"Thanks for the additional replies.

My experiment failed and I've started another. These ESCs can store a fixed PWM range, so I set that to match my RC calibration values, with a little margin. The aircraft flies OK this way, though take-off isn't…"
