Already working on something like this as an upgrade to an existing model. If we could get smaller hi-res cameras off the shelf it would be much easier but their relative bulk makes things more difficult. Will issue an update in due course.
I purchased a panasonic digital camera with video capabilities saved on an SD card years ago in Hong Kong that was the size of a credit card. The resolution at the time was amazing, I'm sure theres even better available now.
Heres mine almost the same but at the same time completly different.

RCgroups is a great lace to start looking for some handy airframes, there are guys kitting the ideas.

Heres a start for those that have not dipped their toes into RCgroups yet.

I would'nt mind one of these 1 to 1

Now there's an expensive looking lawn dart! lol
These SkyEye(?) drones have a neat way of "landing"
...they get snarred on a crane cable!

Looks trickey to me...
Your planes look pretty sweet! Would you mind giving us any info on how you built them? :)
That was for Gary Mortimer btw
Hi Jamie, they are cut EPP foam the CNC machine does the job!!

Currently building a bigger camera platform

Trying to get 1kg lifted for 1 hour.

The small airframe is monumentally simple in its construction and pretty hard to break. I'm currently seeing if it will get to 100 hours flight time without too much incident. So far in 65 hours I have totalled 2 servos, both because of my expert flying skills. I get 1 hour on a 3200 lipo.

Cheers

Ahh I see. Your pretty lucky to have access to a CNC machine. What software do you use to model your planes?
How about a 1/1 Raven?

Find a pylon style freeflight design by someone like Sal Taibi and put a big fat pod and boom fueslage on it. There's your Raven or Aerovironment Pointer. The apparent freeflight roots in these two designs arent just coincidence when you consider the mission and who designed them. I might bash a Witchdoctor X for mine, or some combination of my fjirst prototype and a FF design..

Here's a picture of an old Zipper FF

See the similarities?

If you like that Boing PO...
