I was wondering if there was a simple built in way of streaming the GPS data of the plane out of Mission Planner into Plugin software to drive a RS-232 Antenna Tracker system?
The info that is needed is Latitude, Longitude, and Altitude. I have a friend that is willing to write a basic Plugin to communicate the info to the serial-Servo driver.
If this info streamable from Mission Planner that would make it easier.
Any insight into this would be helpful...

I'm curious, what do you do for your full-time job and how many hours do you put into DIY Drones per week?
Thanks again for you suggestions,
Dan

Does the MP support the Ardutracker? (seems only maestro is supported) I built an ardutracker from an old AP(legacy) board and use it w/ HKGCS susuccesfully. Dittos on the fantastic work with the MP!
Hi michael . Is possible the antenna tracking working with the log playback in Mission Planner ?
Allister, i will look at adding.
Nikos - yes it should work
ive added ardutracker support. but concider it beta code. it looks good, but does need double checking.
Permalink Reply by Allister Stefan on March 23, 2012 at 10:34pm It works! (Ardutracker support for MP) still tweaking the servo settings though....they´re over-reacting a bit...but it could be my worn out GS servos (poor things ...they work hard!). Mega dittos! Thanks Michael!

I have this servo controller (http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1350) and it is not talking to Mission Planner as a tracker. They move when linked to the software from Pololu but mot mission planner. I also have another issue with my new APM. It will sometime link via usb and somtimes it wont. It just times out. What do you think this issue is. It seems to have started when I updated it to 2.3 Ardupilot firmware.
I really need some help. Thanks
Joe
Permalink Reply by Dan Ho on March 25, 2012 at 12:28pm Hi Michael & Joe,
I just got the same Pololu Micro Maestro 6-Channel USB Servo Controller and wish to use Mission Planner to control it. Are there specific MP and Maestro versions which need to be used - in other words, are there versions that shouldn't be used together?
Thanks much,
Dan
Ok to get it working you need to setup a few option on the maestro.
firstly in the pololu control center
1. serial settings > select usb dual port. - this enabled both usb comms and usb to serial coms over usb.
2. under channel settings > set the min and max pwm to the extents you need the servo to move.
3. now take your min and max and calc the diffrence ie min 560 max 2448 = 1888 / 2 = 944
4. put the calced number into the 8-bit range (+/-) in my case this is 944
5. you should now be done.
let me know how you go.
Permalink Reply by Dan Ho on March 26, 2012 at 1:14pm Great! Thanks Michael. I can probably find these other things out by experimentation but wondering if the s/w is set up to take care of reversing the servo direction when it gets to 360 degrees so it will run it back around to 0 degrees, to keep from wrapping the wires up if the plane is circling the ground station.
Dan
yes, that should all be taken care of, it should auto move from 360 negative back to 0
