i have a brand new apm 2.0 and i loaded the arduplane firmware and i have wireless telemetry. the control surfaces only move freely when i have the board plugged into to usb. when powered by a battery in manual mode the planes control surfaces respond a few times and it sounds like it tries to rearm my motor every few minutes. the plane is for the most part unresponsive but its not flight worthy this way.
Im confused this is brand new hardware i have no idea where to even go from here any help is greatly appreciated

Permalink Reply by yoface55 on February 19, 2012 at 10:23pm according to gcs via telemetry "initialising" comes on every few minutes even though the plane is not in motion.....
putting in multiple inputs into the plane such as moving the elevator up or down or moving the ailerons to many times seems to bring on the "initialising" sooner?
Please any help? really trying to figure this out......
my guess is you have an input voltage issue. as it sounds like the apm is rebooting.

Permalink Reply by yoface55 on February 21, 2012 at 7:45pm Problem solved with new esc / ubec (for what its worth i had a mystery 20 amp esc in a bixler and it was browning out......so if anyone is building a bixler drone go with a 30 or 40 amp esc...)
Thank you so much...the help in this community is extraordinary... cheers

I finally got my APM 2 up and going today in a Bixler. Had the same trouble with a 25amp Turnigy Plush. I read through the threads and saw a few people having issues but no answers as the DIYDrones guys only had Jdrones ESC. I had a 40a Turnigy K Force from an old Heli and it solved my problems and increased the performance of the Bixler incredibly.
It does seem to go though a few cycles where I lose everything but the rudder and on mine if I flick to Stablize and back to manual everything works well.
I tried stabilise and RTL and all worked well except the trim seemed to be way out on STAB and RTL despite it been leel. Only 3 flights so I will sort it out.
Awesome bit of kit guys. I was about to give up after getting a secondhand Hexa with APM1 1260 and thought I would try this on a plane first. Will have to get another for the hexa now.
