APM_Config.h vs Paramaters from Mission Planner, who wins?

I am messing around with adding sonar to Arduplane and am trying to understand the workings of the config file vs the parameters that are saved via mission planner. If I, for example, have #define AIRSPEED_SENSOR     ENABLED in APM_Config.h but do not check the hardware in the mission planner config, is it treated as enabled or not?
