Communication Between Groundstation & ArduPlane

Hey everyone, I've been trying to figure out how to customize a message between ArduPlane and the Groundstation. Say I want the plane to send me some sort of information that it collects, how would I go about creating that message?

Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.
