MAVlink format/abstraction

Hi All

I am newbie to MAVlink and wanted to understand how MAVlink converts data received at ground station in HEX or ASCII format to actual numbers that have some meaning e.g. pitch, roll angles, velocities etc. If someone could at least point me in the right direction that will great.

Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.
