HI Guys , i bought Diydrones stores new ardupilot mega board ..Also I have IMU shield ..

I cant upload the data to the board...I did all recommendation ..still no luck...

1)diffrent computer .doesnt work gives upload eror

2)compileing is normal..so arduno setup is correct

3)Tried with just FTDI cable..no luck

4)Usb with IMU shield no luck

5) I am very good soldering guy..all my life i am dealing with electronics...i resodered ..no luck

6) One Option left, ..I power the board from FTDI or usb. However I dont plug any servos or rc equipment. I am using Ftdi or USB power just for uploading the program...Is this the reason can cause that issue.? OR just a Bad Board? Does anybody had issue with these boards

Thanks for the advise

Hi Tony,

What error do you see when the code will not load?

How have you been powering the board, you say one option left to power the board with FTDI or USB, it should not matter if the servos are connected when loading the code, and the power from the USB alone is enough to get the code loaded, no need for any other power supplies!

Martin.

this is the famous boy i get...:))

  1. Did you check the "Set RTS on close" box in the Windows Com port, as instructed in the manual?YES
  2. Is your FTDI cable plugged in the right way? The black wire or side marked "black" should be on ArduPilot's BLK pin.YES
  3. Are you selecting the right board? Arduino Duemilanove for ArduPilot and ArduIMU, and Arduino Mega for ArduPilotMega.YES
  4. Are you using the DIYDrones or Adafruit FTDI cable? We've had trouble with other ones...YES
  5. Is the cable plugged into a USB hub? That can sometimes cause trouble. Try plugging it straight into your PC.NO
  6. Is the ArduPilot board powered on, ideally through your RC system or ESC? (You can NOT power it from the FTDI cable; this is a safety measure to avoid power conflicts.)NO..BUT NON OF THE RC CONNECTED..JUST UPLOADING ..JUST THE ARDUPILOT MEGA BOARD
  7. Are you using the latest FTDI drivers? Install them if not. If you're still having trouble, try reinstalling them.YES
  8. Check your solder joints! It's a good idea to reheat and reflow all of the ones you did, just to be sure.YES
  9. Other errors that have caused this problem in the past include a power source (such as your ESC) that is putting out a voltage outside the acceptable range of 4-7v, faulty FTDI cables, and corrupted FTDI drivers. When in doubt, try a different power source, a different cable or a different PC. ..DIFFRENT COMPUTER YES

NO LUCK..IS THIS NEW BOARDS HAS ISSUE?

Hi, i believe the new v1.4 boards have to be powered by a BEC and cant be powered from USB. This is from memory (I fly AP not APM) but try powering from your RC BEC.

Hi Dave, you are correct about the power supply:

"Because of this new protection circuitry, the USB cable will not power the RC/servo rails. You MUST supply the board with its own power (an ESC or other power source) on the benchtop if you want to connect a RC receiver or servos. This is not an issue in an aircraft, where the whole board is powered by the RC connections."

under the menue item 'tools' you find a label with the name: serial port.

does this match with the connected port!?!

one item above is an entry named 'board'.

does this match again with what the apm is?

YES .it matches....i do understand what you mean..it is correctly applied to connected COM

regards,,STILL ISSUE..I have been dealing with cncs and other motion control design and custom motion designs..this doesnt look like a issue i am missing ....any more suggestion would be appriciated before i

contact the producer..?

ardupilot mega V1.4

hi , even i am trying to upload the test program in ardupilot mega manual..which is so simple program..

i tried 100 times..couple times it uploaded...98% failure...my idea i believe before uploading , system is not reseting the board..i try to reset the board from IMU , even just red board and reseting...still failure...couple time it worked...but when you try to reload when everything is in same setup condition ..faulire again..

regards,

Tony

@Tony,

We know that you are frustrated with your APM board, but double posting is not going to help you arrive at a solution any faster.

Just a thought.

Oh no , I was not trying to be rude my friend.. i was just asking Chris opinion..that is all..i was sending him the link kindly to show the history of the issue.. i didint want to re write the history..

thanks for the advise though...:)))

Please contact the DIY Drones store. Nobody else is having this problem.

Double posting and writing in all caps is not the best way to get attention.
